Abstract
Purpose: Medical images can be saved compressed by the quantization factor. But because highly compressed images can be distorted, it is necessary to keep a proper compression level.

Materials and Methods: 20 raw images of 10 bit and 12bit respectively are randomly driven from the K.U.B image according to the way of taking image. These images are compressed through each quantization factor 10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and offered to two radiologists: each is given 3 points when the same raw image appears; 2 points when different but readable image comes out; 1 point when image impossible to read takes place.

Results: Medical specialist, A has all three points in case of 13 bit and two points in 10 bit, of which one is from quantization factor 20, three from quantization factor 40, five from quantization factor 60, eleven from quantization factor 80. He has three points from the rest. Medical specialist, B has three points from all images with 12 bit and 10 bit.

Conclusion: Compressed by factor 80, no image was influenced on decoding. The possibility to compress up to 7% of raw image in 12 bit and 2% in 10 bit can serve to improve the efficiency of store capacity and image transmission.
